Yes, I do have it.

Also, now all I have left to do are edit/encode the videos and find out about credit for Spore Spawn's supers w/o CF.  I finished making all the .txt files and finding out about credit for everything else this morning.

catnap222 and myself independently.
See this post for confirmation and catnaps reaction to it.

I discovered it during the RBO TASing in March 2006, catnap probably even in 2005 (but he kept it secret until I posted it here, as you see).

I sent nate a couple of smvs, including the "Spore Supers w/o CF" as well, but since you did this one on the superior console already, it's probably the better way to go.

Here is the description I wrote for this trick:

Quote from boss_tricks_spore_spawn.txt:
Boss Tricks: Spore Spawn

Discovered by catnap222, Saturn

Notes:
- It is no longer necessary to fight Spore Spawn, even for his pack of Super Missiles, nor is it neccessary to use a Crystal Flash to get them. Simply fire a Super Missile into the exit from the right distance to break the blockade from the wrong side, as shown. The key is to move the screen as much to the right as possible before shooting, otherwise the Super Missile would go offscreen without hitting the block.

And here the smv of the way I did it:

not sure what's going on then ...

(disregard what i had here before)

open c:\program files\anrichan\anri.bat in notepad and ctrl-f for "mvbob.", line should look like this:

Code:
ECHO import("%PROGRAMFILES%\avisynth 2.5\plugins\mvbob.avs") >> %projname%.avs

add REM before so it looks like this:

Code:
REM ECHO import("%PROGRAMFILES%\avisynth 2.5\plugins\mvbob.avs") >> %projname%.avs

save and close. now make a new project file and let me know what happens.

with this change you won't be able to process d1 stuff, sorry about that ... wish i knew what is going on with your computer.

nate:  Just tried it.  Same error message pops up.  Is there some other way I can cut out the parts of the videos I want then encode those in anri-chan?

Saturn:  Thanks.  I knew you had discovered that method of SporeSpawn's supers w.o CF, but I couldn't remember wether it was catnap222 or someone else who had previously discovered it.

wtf. are you telling me you can encode successfully without trimming? that doesn't make any sense ...

Yeah.  The error only occurs when I try to trim the video.  So if I could trim the video using some other program, then use anri-chan to encode that trimmed video (if that's possible; I have no idea what I'm doing here), there wouldn't be a problem.

just so i'm absolutely clear on this - you can successfully encode a video to upload if and only if you answer no to the "do you want to trim" question?

I just double checked on this.  I can successfully encode a video if I answer no to the trimming question if it comes from a DVD source.  Otherwise, anri-chan comes up with errors about not being able to find various files that differ depending on the quality I want to encode.  Also, the problem with trying to trim the video isn't that it won't let me encode.  The problem is that the video fails to open in virtualdub, so I don't know what frames to enter into anri-chan as my first and last frames I want to keep.

EDIT:  I just tried it again as I was testing to see if I could do a LQ encode, open that in vdub, get the numbers of the start and end frames, then enter those in anri-chan, however, this time when I said yes to the trimming question, the video opened in vdub.  I have no idea what the problem was, wether it's fixed or if I just got lucky, or anything of the sort, but it appears to be working.  If something else messes up, I'll let you know, and if not, I'll probably be sending you an email tomorrow.

EDIT2: A quick question.  If when I'm labeling the videos/smvs and .txt files to send to you, how should I label two videos/smvs that are supposed to go on the same page, and the accompanying ,txt files?  Like for Zebebite skip with ice beam and Zebebite skip with speedbooster, for example.

EDIT3: I wonder if it's possible that the reason I can't encode non-DVD files is because I don't have the proper codecs installed, even though I downloaded and installed the CCCP as suggested on the KB.

this is really bizarre. if you figure it out be sure to let me know what it is. btw you can't use lq to find frames as that's going to be f3 instead of f1 like the mq/hq if it's 2d like super. both mq and lq avi are f3 while only lq mp4 is.

as for multiple files, go _1 _2 _3 etc.

you can discover if you have a dshow codec by opening a new notepad, typing:

Code:
directshowsource("videogoeshere.mp4")

saving as test.avs in the same dir as videogoeshere.mp4, and then trying to open that test.avs file in vdub. if it works, you should be able to use anri-chan on it (it being videogoeshere.mp4).

Okay, I've figured out why it suddenly started working; I hadn't tested trimming on files from a DVD source.  So it works fine with DVDs, but files not from a DVD have that same error when opening in vdub for trimming and have the following errors show up when I try to encode an mp4 on any quality (hence the xQ):

Code:
encoding (project name) xQ MP4

avis [error]: unsupported input format (DIB )
x264 [error]: could not open input file "(project name)_xQ.avs
avis [error]: unsupported input format (DIB )
x264 [error]: could not open input file "(project name)_xQ.avs

Code:
avisynth open failure:
LoadPlugin: unable to load "C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\removegrain_v10pre1.dll"
(C:\Program Files\AviSynth2.5\plugins\mvbob.avs, line 250)
(C:\Documents and Settings\(my name)\Desktop\(project name)\(project name)_xQ.avs, line 2)

Code:
ERROR: could not open WAV file
Unknown input file type
Error importing (project name)_xQ_video.mp4: Feature Not Supported
Could Not Find C:\Documents and Settings\(my name)\Desktop\(project name)\(project name)_xQ.stats
Could Not Find C:\Documents and Settings\(my name)\Desktop\(project name)\(project name)_xQ_audio.mp4

Any idea what's going on?  And I do have the codec you gave me instructions to test for in the last post.

Red Scarlet's NBMB segments 1 and 2, and segment 2 of Smokey's low% run.  All .avis

so you're picking progressive d4 f1 2d and it still does that?

I was actually saying no to the progressive question.  I'll go try a yes to that now and report the results.

EDIT: Same problems.  Both with trimming and encoding.

yeah, nothing you download from sda is interlaced. interlaced video looks like this played back on progressive scan displays such as all computer monitors.

ok i'm still not sure what's going on but if you open c:\program files\anrichan\nondvdtemplate.avs in notepad and delete this entire line:

Code:
import("C:\Program Files\avisynth 2.5\plugins\mvbob.avs")

while still making sure there's a blank line at the end of the file before saving it, then try again to encode something with a new project dir, it should work. key word "should".

what i don't understand is that dvd stuff is supposedly loading mvbob too, so if mvbob is really broken on your machine then it seems to me like dvd source stuff should fail too. :\

Success.  I just have to encode a few videos, then I'll be sending you an email with everything for the update.

EDIT: does anyone know of a free email service that allows for 56.2 megabytes of attachments on an email?
