I can't find any complete video of this run publicly available on the net.

For anyone interested to make a video of it, or just interested about this run,
I wrote below a summary of what I know. Correct me if I'm wrong.

A question to nate:
-------------------
nate, will you make such a video publicly available if the autor asked you to do it,
on the page http://m2k2.taigaforum.com/board/metroid_zero_mission.html,
even if the skill displayed and/or the completion time doesn't seem too impressive?

Summary about this run:
=======================

Completions:
------------
-Ekarderif started a video show of this run, on an emulator, using savestates, available on
http://www.metroid2002.com/0/emurape.php
The video finishes when Ridley is killed.
It seems that Ekarderif has completed this run for himself, but somehow left this site because he was upset,
perhaps because of a divergence of opinion between him and nate.

-Several other good players seem to have completed this run, but did not record it or did not make the video public.
I believe ajbolt89 has completed this run.
I believe Dragondarch has completed this run too, and maybe he has a private video about it.

If you have completed this run too, you're welcome to say it in this Topic (and even more welcome to show it!).

Consideration by top players:
-----------------------------
This run may be badly considered by top players because it requires extreme luck and extreme patience with the Zebetites,
while requiring only very good skills, but not extreme skills, to accomplish, if we don't care bout the time.

Anyway, this is an opinion and some people may enjoy watching such a run.

Technical Summary:
------------------

The Major Problem: the four Zebetite barriers before Mother Brain.
------------------

Zebetite barriers have 140 hp and regenerate 20 hp every half-second.
A Missile does 20 hp damage. You have a capacity of 2 missiles.
You need to shoot 7-8 missiles fast to kill them.
So you need to attract at last 3 rings to a nice position, freeze them, destroy them, be extremely lucky to find 3 missile recharges,
shoot 2 missiles, recharge, shoot 2x, recharge, shoot 2x, recharge, shoot 2x, in less than a second (to be sure, in less than a half second).
After a Zebetite barrier is destroyed, it stay destroyed, so you should save your game before attempting the next one.
Having only 1 missile while killing a ring may improve the probability that this ring drops a missile recharge.
Having less than max (99) hp while killing a ring may lessen the probability that ring drops a missile recharge, in favor of an energy (hp) recharge.
So the pattern could be better like this:
-Freeze 3 rings, shoot 1 missile, destroy rings, shoot 1x, recharge, shoot 2x and continue.

Other parts of the game should be possible overcome by skill only, not luck and patience.
Be aware of this problem if you want to attempt this run.
Know that before you beat the Zebetites, you are basically nowhere.

Version difference:
-------------------
This run is only possible on the European-PAL version of the game, not on the Japanese or the US-NTSC version, because of this:
http://www.metroid2002.com/0/version_differences_9_percent_hard.php
On the American version, with 2 missiles only, you will be able to go through those 2 blocks, but you will be stuck with 0 missile to open the red door leading to the escape ship room, and you cannot recharge at the save room just below it because the door leading to it is gray in hard mode (grey means unopenable).

Items required:
---------------

-morph ball(to progress right at the beginning)
-1 missile tank(to open a red hatch leading to bomb in Brinstar)
-bomb(to go to Kraid or Norfair)
-varia suit (can be skipped, but is acquired anyway when you get the fully powered suit and still counts for 1%)
-unknown item 1-plasma beam(to destroy blocks)
-power grip (getting this make a undestroyable sphere in Norfair disappear)
-ice beam (to kill Metroids)
-unknown item 2-gravity suit(to destroy blocks)
-unknown item 3-space jump(to destroy blocks)

Hard American version 10%: either 1 super missile tank (damage = 100, the easiest for Zebetites), 1 more missile Tank,
or the Screw attack (to go through other blocks at the end).

Inspiration:
------------
If you want to attempt it, take a look at Ekarderif's start:
http://www.metroid2002.com/0/emurape.php
And take a look at ajbolt89's hard 10% speedrun route:
http://speeddemosarchive.com/MetroidZeroMission.html#hard10

Feel free to post in this Topic about:
-How do you consider this run, given his "luck problem"?
-Have you done it?
-Are you going to attempt it or not?
-Shall you try an emulator with savestates run, without save states, or even a PAL run?
-Would you enjoy watching a video of such a run?

My own 9% hard attempt ended with zebetites. I just can,t pass any zebetite not even first. I was couple time close did pass first one. But i giving up because last three is much harder.

I don,t believe dragondarch is completed this one. He not even play low-% runs. Im not never are hearing he are attempt even 9% normal run. Ajbol89 haved one picture 9% hard completion screen. He maybe play it through with emulator. I guess he not haved PAL version.

IMO 9% hard might work only emulator assist with heavy amount savestate and turbo controlls. Thats fact you have collect 3-4 refill drop. Yes you can break each barrier with 7 missiles only, but if you need jump or turn very much you need more than 7 missile to kill each. Also if you lost damage and haved full 2 missiles then you can,t got missile refill in any theory. Yes this might be interesting see this. Emulator or not. I really wonder if someone can did it on real console. I just can,t believe thats even very possible.

lol no way
I'm working on one right now >_> Just need to get a dvd recorder. That pic's real though, I have another save after the zebetites right now on my PAL cart, another run through, that's at like 35:33. I'm working on getting MB killed efficiently; I'm finding having her dead by 37:30 on this run, ~2 minutes after loading the save, is about as good as I can hope for. I've killed her a bunch and been able to get past the Chozo Test without saving (I'll cut it if I fail to skip the map in the mothership, or if the escape from tourian takes me longer than 16sec remaining) but I think it's better practice to run through it repeatedly. The strategy for MB isn't very hard, just lots of movement. So I've got that save I'll be keeping to practice with, and I'll want to get another run up to before the zebetites on a different save. Then I'd have those two to practice the zebetites and MB -> finish repeatedly, while I record... whenever I end up getting a recorder, ha. Shouldn't be too long though, I don't intend to let M:OM get me too bogged down, one or two playthroughs then back to mzm until I finish it.

As for the zebetites, you've got it totally right; I do like to have both of my missiles though, so I can shoot a total of 8 missiles at them, because as Master says you can get caught up just doing little movements. Considerations of HP I've sort of worked out in my own math but not as well as you have, haha, especially considering the 20hp/half second. That's pretty awesome man.
For the first one I do like I did on the old 10% hard with 4 missiles: When you run in there's like five rinkas that spawn immediately. They stick around on their spawn points for a bit, I don't know exactly how long but long enough for you to put Samus on the edge of that first platform (as in, enter the room and move forward about two tiles so she's hanging off the edge on her toes, just before you'd fall off). As soon as the rinkas move you back up (opening the door gives like 1.5 tiles extra movement) and when they all converge on the earlier position you freeze five at once; then kill 'em all and pick up refills one at a time, as you said.
The second zebetite uses the same idea, only it works almost better: reload the room and as soon as you enter jump through the first zebetite's hole. Get onto the long platform before the second one, and right around the center of it (if you've been quick enough) the rinkas, six of them now, all ought to begin movement toward the center. Back up again, and with a pattern of crouched shots (C) and standing shots (S) (CSCS, then crouch to avoid one, then SC) you can get six of them all lined up to destroy.

The third and fourth just require a bit more manipulation; for the third, freezing two on the bottom immediately when they spawn, then going and getting one from the top center of the 2nd zebetite's room and one from the center above the first lava room (before the 4th zebetite), freezing each one at a time. By now the first two oughta come at you, so if you're well positioned you can get them too, all around you, and then the 5th comes from the top center of the room you're working with.

Each rinka explodes on the third shot; if you're standing atop a frozen rinka, there's no knockback from damage, so if you lay out the refills well and fast enough and have the luck to get a freshly spawned rinka frozen pixels below your feet, you can start there and take a hit immediately before going for it (since you don't need more time to shoot eight missiles than it takes for the turrets to shoot another shot).

I guess that's all I got.
