you can say anything about any decades you like.
as for me, both 80's and 90's were the best decades of all time espically being a kid.
The music.
The movies.
The games.
They had alot more "glory" feel to it.
for example listen to this:

This is proof that being a kid back in the day the best. Listen to the flow of the notes and the way the beat kicks in the changes. Upbeat and heroic. Silly as it sounds, it really made you believe it goodness and justice when you're a young, impresionable child. Now the games all put you on the side of darkness.

I just hate new shit today.
I don't finding anything entertaining such as remakes of movies like Friday the 13th. People just remake badass old school stuff and ruin it.
I'm sick of hearing sex and love songs.
Twilight saga shouldn't have existed. Castlevania and Zelda: TP would kick its ass any day.
They are no more addicting fighting games like Double Dragon and Streets of Rage because they are THAT replayable. Everybody just now wants to shoot stuff.
But enough talk 80's and 90's FTW!

That decade actually starts next year, so that's the future....

I never witnessed them first hand, but I would say 60s/70s if I could.

hurp durp, no ... not sure why people say that. yes, the 211th decade begins in 2011, but the 2010s began this year. just like the 1980s began in 1980, the 90s in 1990, etc.

Servin' you realness!!
I think it's all relative.  I'm one of the oldest people in here, and I say that the best shit is from the 70's and 80's.  In fact, some of the shit that younger people like today is complete garbage to me.  I think it's just a 'had to be there' kind of thing that applies on both sides.

The 211th decade is the 2010s, from 2011 to 2021.  Besides, there hasn't been nearly enough time to consider the 211th decade if it did start this year.

the 211th decade is not the 2010s. it's 2011 through 2020. 2020 is not part of the 2010s. the 2010s are from 2010 through 2019. it's not the same decade as the 211th decade.

if you're starting from year 0, isn't this the 202nd decade?

ah, according to wikipedia the common calendar starts at year 1. so this is still the 201st decade.

Music?  IMO I lean more towards the rockin' 80's, but there's some good stuff from the 70's too.  For nostalgic reasons.

Quote from arkarian:
for music... 90s or 00s... psytrance takes

I amend my previous statement. aiwebs_008

Video Games:  I'll have to say 80's since my favorite past time was wasting most of my allowance in the arcade. Razz
Movies:  Today.  At least technology wise -for special effects.  I can't say much on the writing/plots though.  Good writing....  or a good movie based on a good story is pretty much timeless.
Everything else: 50's

By '50s - I guess mean a time when things were simpler and (relatively) safer.  When there weren't a hundred things to distract you and you could go to sleep at night without having to lock your front door.  Yeah.  Technology wise it sucked compared to today.  But they didn't know any better back then and they were happy.

the best decade for music is definitely either the 90s or 00s. 60s–80s had some good stuff but psytrance takes the cake.

Best decade for music is obviously '65-'75. You whippersnappers don't know what you're on aboutsays the guy born in 1993
Bets decade for games was '95-'2005 (though a lot of good stuff came out '06, iirc)
Best decade for films? I dunno, chronologically, I like a big spread of films.

I guess most people will vote for the decade the grew up. Reasons are very simple. As a kid you`re just curious about almost anything and it`s the most easy-going time of your life (at least it should be). This shapes you more than in any other part of your life, simply because one still has a malleable personality. So the stuff just sticks in your mind and you`ll always remember "the good old days".

Music: all, there`re always good bands and interesting music around. I don`t have any real preference, but my personal taste and style developed rather late.
Movies: See music.
Games: 90s. I grew up with GameBoy and SNES and it got stuck ever since as mentioned above.

Most people will vote for the decade they grew up in, not all though. ;)

i was born in 1977, so, the 80s and 90s should've made the most impact on me. But, to be honest... music stank, movies stank, games stank. ;)

Music: I never have a thing for contemporary mainstream music. Never had, never will. So, I can't chose if the choice is 80s, 90s or first decade of the new millenium.
Movies: If the choice has to be between those 3 decades, I think I'll settle for the first decade of the new millenium. Mostly because  I have noticed a trend that lengthier movies are on the rise again. Where in the 80s and 90s, almost all movies were limited to the unwritten rule of approx 90 mins, lately movies have been getting lengthier again. And I've always preferred a longer sit while watching a movie. I like well told stories. And they take time.
Games: I have some wonderful memories of games of the 80s, but, it definitely wasn't my fave era of the 3 options. I think I'm gonna go with the 90s there. The past decade saw some amazing games as well, but, in the 90s, we didn't have the amazing graphics we had these past 10 years. Not to mention the graphics we'll see in the coming 10 years. So, it was more about actual quality - good story, good gameplay. Lately, those seem to have taken a backseat to simply stunning the player with gorgeous visuals and amazing sound.

From the perspective of medial stuff (which has a significant impact on shaping society) the older decades where more original and authentic. For example the old Terminator films are something I consider masterpieces. Today too much is wannabe shit, less authentic content. In short: much shit is going on and people are more confused to find decent life-values. When it comes to games it is a bit difficult for me to decide because best times still didnt arrive. Those times games where more original and authentic but the lack of game-dev-experience and hardware-ressources often restricted to design some high gaming quality. Today we have all the power and we can learn from older times to improve gaming. But instead doing it and using hardware wisely and "update" the older games or game-ideas to a standard to how they should be like, instead doing so too much is wasted again to push just the physical boundaries but not the ones regarding game-design and gaming quality, for example many tend to experiment with large-scale stuff and oversee all the decent universe of appropriate scope.

So decent devs with sweet imagination and a sanely feel for gaming quality are needed. Combined with todays ressources a gamers dream-decade could potentially finally start. But more devs of value are needed, too many wanna be innovaters out there. For example once (from my side) very respected Bioware has become a joke today, if you compare their recent stuff to noble qualities they achieved with the masterpiece Baldur'Gate in those older times.
And hopefully manipulated kiddies today will get rid of illusions that 3D gaming is always 'superior' to 2D gaming. You know after some time now 3D is nothing new or exxagerately exiting anymore but we need massivly more decent high-end 2D games.

Music: The 60's, easily. Though I agree with TheGreenManalishi that 1965-1975 is superior to 1960-1970, since most of the good stuff from the 60's came in the latter half of the decade (the true highpoint probably being 1967).

Games: The 90's. It's not like it was a much better decade for gaming than the last 10 years, in fact the amount of quality games has almost certainly increased, but if I made a top 10 list of the greatest games ever almost all of them would be from the 90's.

Movies: Can't really say, no decade stands out as being better than all the others.

Nope, Looney Tunes and the Hannah Barbara cartoons from the 50s and 60s kick those cartoons' asses.
