Not sure where you can, but the jump is SJ-less damage boosted jump so you can reach the next area (which requires spider/grapple) without fighting Thardus.

It's much easier with SJ than it is without, though it is obviously possible as Para actually did it :P

OK, one last question.  Is it possible to climb ore processing in 21%?  Just to make sure I have the right room name, it's the one in the Phazon Mines with the rotating central column with spider ball tracks.

yes it is possible.  paraxade had to do this a few times iirc.

you go to where you would normally double jump up the rungs, and instead bomb jump up.

I don't think paraxade climbed that room in his run, i think you're thinking of phazon processing center. Anyway, i don't think it's possible to climb that room, at least not from the bottom to the top.

Yeah you can't climb that room in 21%. I went in from the front and then backtracked back out to Main Quarry to get the artifact.

About ore processing:  If it's not climbable, then how *do* you get out of Elite Research?

OK, so the reason I asked all these questions is that I'm making a route for 21%.  I'm nowhere near good enough to actually do it myself, but perhaps someone else is.

Starred lines are potential places to save

Frigate stuff
**Landing Site**
Missiles (which Missile do we get?)
Morph Ball
Bombs
**Gathering Hall**
Varia Suit
Artifact of Wild
Artifact of Nature
**Burning Trail**
Plasma Beam
**Phendrana Shores**
Artifact of Sun
Wave Beam
**Phendrana Shores**
Artifact of Strength
**Landing Site**
Artifact of Lifegiver
**Gathering Hall**
Ice Beam
Artifact of World
**Reflecting Pool**
Power Bombs
**Central Dynamo**
**Magmoor workstation**
Artifact of Spirit
Artifact of Elder
**Magmoor Workstation**
**Reflecting Pool**
X-Ray visor
Artifact of Chozo
**Central Dynamo**
**Metroid Quarantine B**
Phazon Suit
**Metroid Quarantine B**
Artifact of Newborn
Artifact of Warrior
**Main Quarry**
**Landing Site**
Artifact of Truth
**Impact Crater**

So, important things about the route...

1) Gets Plasma early.  I can't really think of a better time to get the Plasma Beam, and it saves on having to backtrack to get the Artifact of Sun.  The Plasma Beam is also one of your best weapons, so it's nice to have around.

2) IBBF isn't used.  Should it be?  Not using it has the nice advantage that Ruined Shrine isn't full of Chozo Ghosts when trying to do the various tricky jumps in it, but I'm not sure if it might save time.  Also, can Plasma be gotten without it?

3) Artifact of Warrior.  This route assumes a wallcrawl from MQB to get it.  Is this possible/feasible?  Also, could Artifact of Newborn be gotten while in the SW?  That would certainly save a lot of time.  It might be faster to get Warrior on our second trip through the mines, but that would require fighting the wave troopers without the Phazon Suit.

4) Can the save station in Main Quarry be reached in 21%?  It'd be a rather convenient place to save, especially if we do the wave trooper thing mentioned above.

I believe the only missile cleared is the original missile launcher.  the half-pipe requires space jump (or at least bombs), and I believe that the one in the top corner of Main Plaza needs a scan dash & space jump.

Save Station in Main Quarry can be reached in 21%, you just require a HBJ to do it, or a scan dash from a higher platform iirc.

really?  I always triple bomb jumped it, but then again my TBJs leave something to be desired.

HAHA i love you cos that sounds exactly like something i'd say, but just practise an HBJ and after a while you'll get good at it (it's superbly easy, even for me) and it'll replace TBJ

but yes, a basically perfect dbj will clear it

What item do you need to pick up for a 21% run? Yeah I was too lazy to read those past 48 pages.

The Overlord of All Acorns.
1 missile
2 ball
3 bombs
4 varia
5 wave
6 ice
7 plasma
8 power bombs
9 xray visor
10 - 12 artifacts
(11) - phazon suit and beam (does not contribute a percentage point)

12 + 9 = 21

DAMNIT!

The only part I got to see of the run was him trying a damage boosted Thardus jump. I never saw him make it.

that only one person has ever completed it and you'll probably want to stab yourself in the face with a gun if you try to in any reasonable time
