Yes, that did just happen...

i know its just not gonna happen without some crazy glitch but we're working on a 20% if you skip artifacts you get a 9%... or lower

also speed runs could be like 40 or 50 mins

and for a varia skip has anyone tested a TAS way of getting to phen. like something dumb like when you pause you dont take damage for a split second and by abuseing that (or somthing like it) to get to wave and back

You mean Pause Buffering? No all it is is the consoles version of Frame advance. (due to the lag between pausing and un-pausing, OoT and MM use this the most for very difficult tricks.)

I think he is referring to things like SSB break the targets where pausing freezes the timer for 2 frames. Doing that over and over again for the damage timer (if it works in Prime, which is doubtful but possible) could maybe allow you to skip Varia.

So I've been wondering... Do you need the phazon suit to kill prime? Like do you absolutely need it. If someone could find a way to kill prime without the phazon suit. Then we could skip the omega pirate which skips the X-ray visor right?

Also has anyone gone to prime without the phazon suit? What if the boost ball could hurt prime?

IIRC, the phazon beam doesn't trigger if you haven't killed omega pirate.

Is there a way to get the Artifact of Newborn without going through the Phazon tunnel? If not, it's a moot point, since the Energy Tanks needed to get it otherwise would make skipping the Phazon Suit completely nonviable in a low % run.

It has been confirmed for a long time that Phazon Beam isn't triggered without the Phazon suit.

Also we can't get there in a low% run because of the reasons Othin posted.

well I think a secret world might be able to help with getting that artifact but I'm just wanting to see if its possible to kill prime without the Phazon suit so we don't try and figure out how to get that artifact for nothing.

i've put many hours into finding a way to kill metroid prime without phazon sult/beam and it doesnt seem possible at all, i tested everything but IS but i cant see this working because for one. theres no SW's you can use to help trigger IS and two. with most enemies IS will not damage them

it would be funny if IS/flickrball hurt mp's final form.
that would also drop the % by 1 since you'd skip 2 items by getting boost ball.

The Phazon Suit doesn't count for a % at low %; the purpose of finding a way to skip it is just to skip the X-Ray Visor. So unless there's some other otherwise required item that could also be skipped with the Boost Ball, just getting the Boost Ball instead of the X-Ray Visor and Phazon Suit wouldn't lower the % at all.

i would test it but first we need a SW and/or a spot inside the room to activate IS (if anyone fines a way to activate IS and waits to test it themselves keep in mind that having the phazon suit means you cant prove it can be done without it, because you never know if having it would make MP able to take damage)

IS doesn't work that way. All it does is make you touch every currently loaded trigger in the room, it won't make bosses take damage without the right weapons. All that'll happen if you use it in the Prime fight is you'll take damage.

well it starts the cutseen of you jumping down a hole but from the wrong room so you just get a black screen then the game doesnt know where to place you, i think
